If you're a fan of Chicago History, including that of the labor movement and the role of firefighters in the Greatest City in the World, this area is must-see.
It was a short and sweet place to visit. It was very tidy, and there were places to rest as well. My only concern is that the statue and landmark present at the Gates pertain to the firemen who have lost their lives in Chicago, and while that is very important, it would seem more fitting for there to be a statue dedicated to those that lost their lives while working at the Stockyards. Also, commercial trucks would loudly roll by every once in a while.
Nice area, very peaceful and cool area to take pictures.
Amazing history of this place, WTTW recently did a GREAT documentary of it, check it out on the WTTW app.

Beautiful, historic gate from Chicago's stockyards
I went down here alone one afternoon. I liked the monument itself, but as I walked up Morgan Street towards Pershing Road, a car load of shady characters was scoping me out. Thank goodness there was a train coming through and a lot of cars backed up. Who knows what would have happened otherwise.
Very cool piece of Chicago history. My tour guide, Harrison was especially informative.
